Today I’m bringing you my dream author panel with the help of Eventbrite! They are an event planning software company that helps people find and plan events in their area! This could be an endless list (I’m not even kidding) and it’s so hard to narrow it down to just a few authors, without listing all the authors I’ve ever read, ever. Because it’s tempting. To list them all. And the more I think about it, the more I want to add to my list. So without further ado, here is my list.
Emily Giffin wrote my favourite book, Something Borrowed, and if you like women’s fiction and you haven’t read an Emily Giffin book before you’re missing out. So having her on the panel would be fantastic. To talk to her about Rachel and Darcy and Dex (oh, Dex!) would be the absolute highlight for me.
Favourite author. It is my dream, my absolute dream, to meet Sophie Kinsella. If I don’t make this happen, it will be the greatest tragedy for me, because I’ve loved her for so many years. I re-read her books and they’re just as good the second, third, fourth time around than they were the first time. Her Shopaholic series is legendary, her stand-alone novels are hilarious and she can even write Young Adult. WHAT CAN’T SHE DO? Hero.
I love Kirsty Greenwood. She’s only written two books (WHY CRUEL WORLD, WHY?) but she has this proper fresh voice that no one else has. She’s also genuinely funny in her books, which is a rarity. Lots of books have blurbs that say they’re “hilarious” when they’re just so not, but Kirsty’s books ARE. Yours Truly was delightful, but The Vintage Guide to Love and Dating was IMMENSE. I heart Jessica Beam immensely, and Kirsty for that matter.
How I wish Holly Smale had written her Geek Girl series when I was a teenager, because those books would have made my life, I’m not even kidding. I LOVE HARRIET MANNERS SO FREAKING HARD. The chance to meet Holly would be mind-blowing, and I’d love to ask her what’s next, since (unfortunately) my time with Harriet Manners is coming to an end.
CJ Duggan slays me. I read her Paradise duology last year and it’s the best New Adult duology I’ve ever read. Very rarely does the second book better the first BUT IT DID. And I want to know how CJ Duggan did it! She’s just the Queen and I need to read all the rest of her books, immediately. I’d love to chat to her about all things Paradise.
Gemma Burgess is my hero. When I read her debut novel I was over the moon at how good it was, how new, how fresh, how honest and then I read her second novel A Girl Like You and it immediately went onto my best books ever list. I wasn’t as big a fan of her Brooklyn Girls series (especially since we were supposed to have 5 books and got 3) and I’m devastated Gemma has gone to TV writing, because the book world needed her voice. So I would have her on my panel and hound her until she agrees to write more books
This one goes without saying, despite the fact I’ve only read The Assassin’s Blade and Throne of Glass. I’m only delaying reading the rest because I know they’ll be so good. I’d love to meet her, she can write a heck of a story and I’d love to talk to her about all things ToG and ACOTAR.
No one writes a crime book like Tess Gerritsen. If you haven’t read her Rizzoli and Isles books, or seen the series, you’re properly missing out. The Surgeon is one of my favourite books, ever, closely followed by the sequel The Apprentice. The rest of the series is just as fantastic, but those first two books are mind-blowing. Meeting Tess would be like meeting my hero.
So that’s my panel! 8 fabulous authors, all of whom write the best books in their genres and who amaze me with their words time and time again. Who would be on YOUR dream panel? Let me know!
