Quick Fire Quiz With Jaimie Adman, author of The Chateau of Happily Ever Afters

Today is my turn on Jaimie Adman’s blog tour for her new book THE CHATEAU OF HAPPILY EVER AFTER. She’s doing my quick fire quiz, and I love the fact she has a dog named Bruiser, in homage to Legally Blonde, one of the best films ever! Enjoy!

Tea, coffee or hot chocolate?

I’m partial to all three actually! Tea – always. Always, always, always. Tea is my first love. I will never say no to a cup of tea. I’ve only recently got into coffee after getting a Tassimo for Christmas. I’ve never been a big coffee drinker apart from the obligatory Pumpkin Spice Lattes in the autumn, but since getting this coffee machine, I’ve become a bit addicted. It’s getting a bit worrying, to be honest. I’ve already had two this morning and I’m counting down the minutes until my next one!

Physical books or eBooks?

For ease of use – eBooks. For general feeling of loveliness, smell of pages, and covers to stroke – paperbacks. I mostly buy eBooks now just because of the space factor – my bookshelves are stuffed but my Kindle holds an unlimited amount of books, and it’s so convenient, but I do love a physical book too!

Cat or dog?

Dog! I’ve got a Chihuahua called Bruiser who spent his early years getting beaten up by the cats we had at the time! I like cats, but I’m quite happy to only have a dog for the time being!

Action flick or rom com?

Rom com all the way! I get bored in action flicks, no matter how much ‘action’ there is, but I love a good rom com!

White or milk chocolate?

Milk chocolate! White chocolate is good too, but nothing really beats good old Cadbury’s Dairy Milk!

New York or Los Angeles?

New York! I’ve never been there but I love everything about New York, and it’s on my bucket list to visit! I think LA would be too hot for me!

City or country?

Country. I’m a country girl at heart, I live in the middle of nowhere, and I love it. Sometimes I think it’d be awesome to live in a city, but I know the novelty would wear off after a couple of days and I’d be desperate to come back home!

Bath or shower?

Bath! I love a long relaxing lie in the bath with a Lush bath bomb! Which is just as well really because I don’t even have a shower!

Writing by hand or typing?

Typing. My handwriting is awful, so bad that sometimes even I wonder what I’ve written! Typing is just so much faster and easier. I envy people who can write entire books by hand, but I couldn’t do it. I barely handwrite more than a shopping list these days!

Samsung or iPhone?

Neither for me as I’m still using an ancient Windows phone!

Summer or winter?

Winter! Always winter! I hate hot weather. I don’t mind a bit of sun but I hate those sweltering hot days when you break a sweat just by stepping out the door. Luckily we don’t get too many like that in Britain, but I’m not a fan of summer. My favourite time of year is when things start cooling down in the autumn, and every year I dread the start of summer! I could quite happily live in winter all year round!

Pizza or Chinese takeaway?

The almost impossible question! Pizza really, although I wouldn’t say no to either of them!

X Factor or Strictly?

X Factor! I only watched Strictly for the first time last year because I wanted to see Judge Rinder! I’ve always seen bits of it but never actually sat and watched a series until last year. I will watch it again next time, but X Factor will always be top for me!

Twitter or Facebook?

Twitter, easily! I can barely tear myself away from Twitter, but I find Facebook hard to get in to. It always seems like they’ve changed something every time I go there, and my timeline never shows the posts I actually want to see in the order I want to see them, so I tend to just never visit Facebook and stick to Twitter instead!

Instagram or SnapChat?

I’m a dinosaur who doesn’t do either!

Ant or Dec?

Dec! I don’t even know why I say that because neither of them are right without the other one, are they?! You need both or it just doesn’t work!

Favourite Friends character?

All of them? Is that an acceptable answer? No? Okay, er, Rachel… No, Phoebe… No, Joey… I give up, it’s all of them.

Favourite holiday destination?

I’m torn on this one because it’s either a Hawaiian beach with golden sands and clear blue water, or a snowy cabin in the mountains with a log fire! Even though I don’t like hot weather, I love a beach holiday, so I’ll go for that!

Favourite book?

Tiger Eyes by Judy Blume. It helped me immeasurably when I was a teenager, and I’ve still got my old tattered, dog-eared copy now. I love loads of books, but nothing comes close to that one!

Favourite author?

Judy Blume. Again, her books helped me so much when I was younger and I devoured them time and time again. The same with the books question – there are so many authors I love, whose books I pre-order and wait by my Kindle on release day, but Judy Blume is really special to me.

Favourite movie?

Legally Blonde! I just fell in love with that film from the moment I saw it. I even named my dog after it!

Favourite Netflix series (can be any show on Netflix)?

Once Upon a Time is on Netflix, isn’t it? Does that count? I love that. And I’ve seen they’re making an American series out of Death Note later this year, the trailer looks fab, so I can’t wait for that!

Favourite part about being a writer?

Getting to write down the stories in my head and not feel like I’m wasting my time! I love being able to let my imagination run wild and create characters and tell their stories, they become almost like friends when I’m writing, and I love being able to escape into their world for a little while!

Favourite holiday (Christmas, Easter, Halloween)?

*Noddy Holder voice* It’s Christmaaaaaas!
I love Christmas! I love nothing more than Christmas! I look forward to it every year, from the food to the decorations to the music and the films! It’s the most wonderful time of the year!

Thanks so much Jaimie!
